The Master of Data Science programme provides opportunities for degree holders in both science and non-science streams to learn the foundations in the science of big data and to offer them skills in this emerging discipline.

(Note: Not all courses will be offered every semester; the actual courses offered will depend on the availability of staff and the number of registered students).

Entry Requirement

For admission into the Master of Data Science programme, applicants must have at least:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Science stream with a minimum CGPA of 3.30 or equivalent  with work experience in related fields for at least three (3) years; or
  • Other qualifications approved by the University Senate.

International applicants are required to have:

  • At least IELTS Band 6 (Academic) or TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) / 213 (computer based) / 80 (Internet based) /PTE minimum 57 score if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.

Intake Schedule

Universiti Malaya has two intakes per year, in March and in October.
- This programme is a full-time mode, with classes held from 6-9 pm on weekdays and during the weekends.
