Informatics Research Group focuses on interdisciplinary research that combines principles from computer science, information technology, and various domains of science, engineering, and social sciences to advance our understanding of how information is managed and utilized. The informatics research focuses on information storage, retrieval, and dissemination, information security, knowledge management, natural language processing, data mining, information systems, data compression, social media analytics, model and simulation. .

Informatics Research Domains:

Information Systems: Information systems research focuses on the design, development, implementation, utilization, sourcing, management, and value generation of information technologies, covering areas like databases, information security, and system development. Studies in information systems also look at behavioral, social, organizational, strategic, and societal factors, as well as how they interact with technology.

Health Informatics: : Focuses on the use of information technology in healthcare to improve patient care, healthcare systems, and medical research.

Information retrieval and Web Search: Conduct research in the areas of information retrieval (e.g., search engines) and information extraction. We study and develop tools that provide effective and efficient access to big, heterogeneous data. Current active research themes include retrieval models, information extraction and representation, natural language processing for information retrieval, social network analysis, document image processing, and evaluation.

Cognitive Informatics: Explores the relationship between information processing and human cognition, seeking to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of human-computer interactions.
