(Note : Not all courses will be offered every semester; the actual courses offered will depend on the availability of staff and the number of students registering).

For admission into the Master of Software Engineering (Software Technology) programme, applicants must have at least:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a comparable degree in the field of Computer Science or Information Technology or in a field related to the study of software engineering; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a comparable degree whereby courses in software engineering were included in the programme of study; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a comparable degree with work experience of at least three (3) years in a profession related to software development; or
  • Other qualifications approved by the University Senate.
  • Priority is given to applicants who have a CGPA of 3.0 and above or equivalent.

International applicants are required to have:

  • At least IELTS Band 6 (Academic) or TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) / 213 (computer based) / 80 (Internet based) if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.

University of Malaya has two intakes per year, in February and in September.
